Questions, answered plainly.

Pricing, contracts, switching, equipment, underwriting and the rules around surcharges. If yours isn't here, a person will answer it.

Pricing

How does Swipe Saver pricing work?

You pay one flat monthly membership instead of a percentage of every sale. Then you choose how card costs are handled: pass interchange through at cost on Premium, let credit card customers cover their card cost on Hybrid, or post a card price and pay zero processing fees on Zero. Compare the three plans.

What is interchange?

Interchange is the set of rates Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover set for every transaction, paid to the bank that issued the card. Every processor pays it and nobody can negotiate it. What changes from one processor to the next is everything added on top.

Which plan should I choose?

If you want every customer to pay the same price, choose Premium. If most of your sales are on credit cards and your state allows surcharges, Hybrid lowers your cost. If your customers accept a card price, Zero costs you the least. The calculator shows all three with your numbers.

What if my volume changes?

Your membership tier follows your average monthly volume. If you grow into the next tier, we tell you before anything changes, and you can change plans at any time.

Do you charge statement, PCI or batch fees?

No. There are no statement, PCI, batch, annual, gateway or technology fees on any Swipe Saver plan. Here are 24 fees to look for on your current statement.

Contracts & switching

Am I locked into a contract?

No. Every plan is month to month, and you can leave whenever you like.

Is there a cancellation fee?

No. If you cancel, the membership stops and nothing arrives after it.

How do I switch from my current processor?

Tell us your monthly card sales and roughly what you pay, and we'll send a written side-by-side. If you go ahead, we set up your account and equipment, you start processing with us, and then you close the old account. Check your old contract for an early termination fee first; we'll help you read it.

Can I keep my current equipment?

Often, yes. Many terminals can be reprogrammed and we integrate with most point-of-sale systems. Tell us the make and model and we'll confirm before you switch.

Equipment & integrations

Is the terminal really free?

A standard countertop terminal or mobile reader is included with your membership. Full point-of-sale stations are quoted separately, and you keep the equipment if you leave.

Which online platforms do you work with?

Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop, WordPress, Volusion and ZenCart, through Authorize.net or NMI gateways. See online payments.

Can I take payments on my phone?

Yes. Tap to pay works on the phone you already carry, and you can send payment links by text.

Underwriting & approval

Do you work with high-risk businesses?

Yes. We underwrite low, medium and high-risk businesses in-house, with banking partners that work with each tier. See high-risk accounts.

What do I need to apply?

Basic business details, the owner's ID, a voided check or bank letter, and recent processing statements if you have them. Online businesses also need a live website with clear refund and shipping policies.

How long does approval take?

Most applications are decided within a few business days. High-risk files can take longer because the bank reviews more documents. Your specialist tells you what is still needed.

Why do you need my personal information?

Banks are required to verify the identity of anyone who opens a merchant account. We only use it for underwriting and account setup.

Funding & support

When do I get my money?

Deposits usually arrive within one to two business days. Your exact funding schedule is confirmed during setup, before your first sale.

How do I reach support?

Call or email and a person answers. No ticket queue, and no explaining your account again to someone new.

Security & compliance

Are you PCI compliant?

Our gateways and terminals are PCI compliant, and we help you complete your annual PCI self-assessment at no charge, so there is never a PCI non-compliance fee.

Is surcharging legal?

Credit card surcharges are capped by card-brand rules, can't be applied to debit cards, and are prohibited in a few states, including Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts. Cash discount programs are the usual alternative. Read the 2026 rules.

Do you serve businesses outside the United States?

No. Swipe Saver works with businesses based in the United States.

What grade does your processor get?

Four quick questions you can answer from memory. You get a letter grade, what you're overpaying each month and a written quote if you want one. No statement needed.
